WTF was that?

There are few things in this world that truly shock me.  Thanks to the glorious Internet I have seen things that would put hair on most men’s chests, but nothing really gave me more than a mild jolt of surprise ie. goatse, 2 girls 1 cup, rofl.jpg, & tubgirl (Google it, or on second thought don’t).  I think I didn’t get much out of it because I didn’t see those things actually happen in real life, maybe through the computer screen they are not really real somehow.

Now with that eloquent intro, I can transition nicely to tell you all about our recent trip to Thailand.  Once you arrive there, it starts out innocent enough, you get off the plane meet up with your tour guides, go to the hotel, eat some food and enjoy a nice theater Thai dance show complete with live elephants.  Then the next day while you are riding in the van, the tour guides ask if you want to see some “special” shows, telling you a little about them and they sound a bit risque.  So you agree and figure that since you are not in Thailand everyday that it might be fun to see something a little more playful than you could get back home.  The tour guide said, “If you don’t see it, you’ll probably regret it, but if you do see it, you’ll probably regret it.”  I can now say that statement is entirely accurate.  If you agree, your fate will be sealed, you will never be the same person you were before you came to this strange land of Thai.

I’ll set the stage for you, there were 3 different “special shows” to see, but you get the best discount if you see all three, so of course you agree to the best deal which appeals to your inner cheapskate and curious cat at the same time.

Show 1- A normal enough strip tease show…  Mostly a yawn, but has some other fun thrown in with some tourists being taken on stage for not so private lap dances, ending with the stripper trying to strip the tourist too ;)

Show 2- Now this show begins with shared male/female nudity and then all of a sudden the people were having live sex on stage in front of more than 100 people in an arena.  After the sex, there were a parade of different acts consisting of people controlling their orifices to shoot darts, ping pong balls, and myriad of other disturbing imagery.  I think the worst thing about this show wasn’t the performers or anything they did, the worst thing in my mind was the people’s reactions.  During the live sex portion of the show, the performers don’t do it only on the stage, they actually go into the audience and have sex on audience members.  This is where the problem comes in with the people, instead of being reserved or repulsed, they begin to get into it and start grabbing the bodies of the performers and squeezing and screaming, men and women alike, all ages.

MouseBirdieLittle Turtle

Show 3-  What do a mouse, bird, turtle, and some goldfish have in common?  Give up…  They have all been up the hoohaa of some Thai girls and brought out in front of a live audience for their dismay/amusement.  This would be the most disturbing of all three shows for the fact that the women seemed to be the most degraded and objectified in this show by making them shove things inside themselves.  The mood was a bit different in this show, with my jaw on the floor, I saw many alive and inanimate objects go in places that they shouldn’t normally go.  These images are forever burned into my memory and no matter what I do, I don’t think I’ll ever forget them.

Over the course of the tour, I saw many beautiful places, like the King’s palace, the Parliament building, and the beautiful ocean and city of Pattaya nestled on it’s white sandy shores.  However, I am not the same disconnected person anymore, just seeing something a little surprising over the Internet.  People have done some crazy things just a few feet from me and I have truly experienced “Shock and Awe”.  I don’t think I can ever own goldfish again without thinking of how those fishes lives might be different in Thailand.  :(

Spiritual Touch in HK

You can’t miss it! No matter what religion you are, you can’t help but get a glimpse of the infamous bronze Buddha on top of Lantau Island.  The day that we were there, the weather wasn’t cooperating with us as tourists.  Who knew Hong Kong can have such cool weather and fog too.  We took a nice freaky cable tram ride to the area, which was reminiscent of the movie, The Mist.  The cabin that we decided to go on was called crystal meaning the floor of the ride was see through, so it added more terror in bleak weather.

Hong Kong is definitely a place filled with cross cultural experiences.  We were able to visit the newly opened Noah’s Ark Attraction in Ma Wan.  I heard stories of the end of the world and how animals were saved by Noah, but seeing the history and mythology come to life was fascinating.  The 3D mini theater productions were quite entertaining specially the tale of how Noah’s Ark came about.  Although the attraction was small, it was a breath of fresh air against the backdrop of the city with all the tall skyscrapers.

Sunshine Laundry

I must say that after the trip, I have been giving Marcus more affection when he gets home.  Now now, don’t go put your head in the gutter!  Since we were gone for 2 weeks we had to do laundry before getting home.  We were fortunate to find a laundromat near our Hong Kong hotel.  Not sure what detergent they were using, but the smell has stayed in our clothes ever since we got back.

I am not sure how to describe the smell, but sure is yummy!  Yummy as in smelling some good food.  Just a metaphor, but according to Marcus the smell is like fresh spring flowers.  Who cares!  The extra affection is so I can hug him and smell the yumminess.  So good!   :)

Paying by the pound was so worth it!  I will always remember Sunshine smelling so wonderful.

Forever Embedded

Just the two of us have set out for some adventure in Thailand and Hong Kong for the past 2 weeks.  Once in a while it is nice to take a trip with your other half for some sightseeing, R&R, food, adventure and laughter.  Little did we know that our trip will forever engrave images in our heads that will continue to shock us.

I am still speechless about what we saw and haven’t been able to coherently find words to write about it, so I will leave it to Marcus.  All I can say is that I don’t think I can own any goldfishes in the near future.

Speaking of goldfishes, I am not quite sure about spa treatments dealing with live fish exfoliating either.  Before going on the trip, I heard from friends that a spa in Oakland has the service.  I was curious and YouTube it, but found out that some states banned the treatment due to health code issues.  I must say that seeing it on the Internet and in person are completely different.  I was more frightened than feeling spa pampered when I saw the fishes swarm like bees right around the feet.

Thanks to the kind sir that let me take this!

It is Cold!!!!!!!!!

Getting cold here!  Almost but not quite freezing yet…..it’s a matter of time.  The Oregon nights have been in the 40s and my face turns rosy pink after a few minutes outside.  I can’t believe December is just around the corner…that turkey hasn’t settled in my belly yet.  Thanksgiving is always the stuffed reminder that the holidays are coming and the frenzy of consumerism is alive even in times of hardship.  I of course decided to participate this year in the morning door buster deals to save a buck or two, but with caution.  I can’t wait for many more Black Fridays for my own child to let them know….. ”Better appreciate your gift, cause mommy finger nailed another woman for your gift, Merry Christmas, and violence never gets you anywhere.”  Hope this year we will all stay warm and nice to each other in the mist of a good old recession.

Fingers

I had a nail biopsy last Tuesday where they took part of my nail and lifted it to get another part underneath.  Sounds like a POW torture camp ideology doesn’t it?  Well, it was hours of pain because my thumb wouldn’t get numb and the dermatologist kept injecting it with something to make my thumb fall asleep.  The experience was eye opening.  Who ever thought that a thumb would create such chaos.  I can tell you that I appreciate my thumb so much more today and wish it happy healing.  I really want my thumb back and wish I can use all my 5 fingers together without any hesitation.

Halloween, Mother Nature, Football

Paula:  Are you sure we will be able to get rid of this huge bag of candy?

Marcus: Trust me, last year I was out….no worries.

Hours later Marcus decided to turn off the porch light to let the trick or treaters know that we have closed shop, but really we were done cause we haven’t had any princesses, ghosts, or super heroes come by for at least an hour.  We ended up with lots of candy cause we were sparingly giving them away, thinking that we would have had a flood gate of kiddos ringing the door bell like the year before.  I wasn’t around for last years’ rush, but Marcus had a great time passing candy out.

Well, when you have mother nature not cooperating and a football game going on……that is hard to compete with.  The forecast for today was rain, but when it hadn’t rain all day, I was hopeful that all the ghost and goblins would be out for a great candy feast.  Nope, our neighborhood called it quits before 7pm and mother nature chimed in with rain.  Maybe all the little goblins decided to stay home and enjoy a great Halloween/Football bash to stay warm and dry.

Dinner good, Clean up bad

Yesterday was foodtastic!!!  Not sure if that is a word from Webster’s dictionary, but may go into the Urban dictionary some day.  Anyways, we had 2 couples over making 6 of us for dinner.  We may have overwhelmed our guests with food that started before noon with Marcus making the Almond Roca dessert.  Marcus always makes a yummy corn crab soup, and of course being redundant I followed with a bowl of beef ball noodle soup just like the Vietnamese pho.  Then we had 3 entrees to go with some steamed rice.  Shrimp was of course the main focus cause we had Szechuan shrimp and shrimp vegetable scramble eggs.  Followed by an excellent tender beef with oyster sauce and choy sum that was perfectly done.

A little food, a little conversation, and some after dinner Jasmin Green Tea was delightful!

All done and tummy full…….clean up was one of those things that I am grateful for the invention of the dishwasher and the nice dishrack and wonderful speedy hands that I have :)

Back to Oregon

After enjoying the sun in San Francisco.  Rain, cold, fall, and of course Oregon welcomes me back!!

Two more months until the unsure snow falling from the sky to provide a beautiful winter wonderland….I know last year it was a fun snow time trying to fly back into Oregon for Christmas with delays and the fun 15 mile an hour drive back home from the airport!  Fun times!!!!

Looking forward to mother nature and the wonders of the holiday season.

Oh yes I did!

What the heck!!!  I am in San Francisco and feeling it!!!  I did something that will always be with me permanently until I decide to remove it….can you guess what?

Yes, I got a tattoo!!!!!!

There was pain, hesitation, excitement, and done.  I am going to look at it everyday and know that it was something for me with no regrets.

Next, is the courage to get a piercing on the eyebrow area ;)
